I realized something today. When I was asked for the gazillionth time where I liked it better: in Moscow or DC and when I answered the way I usually do, I understood that I was speaking the complete and absolute truth. I've always said that I like both places, both cities. But today I really meant it. I've always considered DC my hometown and Moscow was my hometown too...In theory. But today I can honestly say that I love Moscow. As much as I love DC. I love every single part of it.
When first coming to Moscow, it's kind of like meeting someone out of the ordinary for the first time. But first impressions aren't always the best, and you certainly can't judge Moscow by them. You have to get to know the city, get used to it's ways. Because, just like people, it has both good and bad qualities. But the best thing to do is to open your eyes and mind, and the beauty of Moscow will show itself to you. I've opened my eyes, and I know that I can call Moscow the same way I call DC: Home.
